I love these old radios but even if they worked, who wants to listen to AM???  My idea was to upgrade them to work with ipods, laptops, phones, etc.  I use the facade of a retro radio but replace the guts with modern speakers.  These feature an amplifier and 3 speakers (2 satellites and a subwoofer).   No cheap chinese plastic here and they sound better than your friend’s Bose.
